Hotel Terme Preistoriche

FRUGAL TRAVELER/DI DAISANN MCLANE
The New York Times exalts the Spa and the Hotel Terme Preistoriche of Montegrotto.
- "... since Venice is very expensive navagating on the Internet I found for
$58 a night a hotel that I feared would be a better virtual version than of
reality.
I imagined finding myself in prehistoric times but the reality was very different: I paid less at Padua for a refined Grand Hotel in old European style that would have cost much more in the United States to stay in a large chain hotel of medium category.
At the Hotel Terme Preistoriche I found a spacious immaculate room with freshly ironed sheets (a rare occurrence in American hotels) and handtowels of linen with the stitched initials of the hotel.
"There were all these comodities, like for example the bidet, the telephone in room, satellite TV and hairdryer, that I desired very much to have in a hotel in Venice where I would have had to pay a lot more". I remainded surprised also with an exquisite Paduan dish with a base of "bigoli", squid and panna cotta (cooked cream) for a price in my opinion was a third less of what I paid in Venice. The Spa was also a surprise as I didn't know it existed ..."
