The 11 rooms of the Episcopal Palace exhibit a collection of great interest consisting of 13th- to 19th-century church furnishings and vestments, gold-work and paintings; among these: Pius II's Cope, decorated with scenes from Our Lady's life, a precious "opus anglicanum" embroidery (14th-century), some 15th-century Flemish tapestries, the 15th-century reliquary bust of St. Andrew, and a small reliquary cross of gold filigree and pearls from the middle of the 14th century. There is a number of 15th-century paintings of the Sienese School, among which the magnificent panel Enthroned Madonna among the Saints by Lorenzo di Pietro il Vecchietta; Madonna with Child by Pietro Lorenzetti is particularly noteworthy among the 14th-century panels on display. In addition, the museum contains other Sienese works from the following centuries, Renaissance polychrome wooden statues, and precious illuminated anthem-books by Sano di Pietra and Pellegrino di Mariano.
