The Parco Delta del Po has been placed on the Unesco World Heritage
list.
Parco Delta del Po - Emilia-Romagna - Established by the Legge Regionale
number 27 (law enacted by the regional government) on July 2, 1988. The Parco
Delta del Po is the largest of all the Regional Parks, and comprises a large
territory of the region of Emilia Romagna. The park borders the Po di Goro to
the north and extends to include the whole historical delta and the mouth of
some Apennine rivers (such as the Reno, the Lamone, the Fiumi Uniti, the
Bevano); marshland located along the Adriatic coast and inland (such as the
Sacca di Goro, the Valli del Comacchio, the Piallasse of Ravenna, the salt
marshes of Cervia); the inland freshwater marshes called Valli di Campotto;
forests and pinewoods such as the Bosco della Mesola and the pinewoods of San
Vitale and Classe. The area is also rich in historical monuments: the Abbey of
Pomposa, Sant'Apollinare in Classe, canals and hydraulic works, the whole town
centre in Mesola, Comacchio, Ravenna and Cervia.
The park territory is divided into six "stations", each of which is concerned
with a particular aspect of conservation: landscape, environment and heritage
activities. These areas are: Volano-Mesola-Goro; the historic centre of
Comacchio; Valli di Comacchio; Campotto di Argenta; Pineta di Classe (pinewood)
- Piallasse di Ravenna - Saline di Cervia (salt marshes). The park comprises a
total territory of about 60,000 hectares in the provinces of Ferrara and Ravenna
and the communes of Mesola, Goro, Codigoro, Comacchio, Argenta, Ostellato,
Alfonsine, Ravenna and Cervia.

Loreo, Papozze, Porto Tolle, Porto Viro, Rosolina, Taglio di Po.
Established by the Legge Regionale number 8 September 1997 n. 36.
