  • Tauferer - Ahrntal mit Speikboden (951-2350 m) - Klausberg (1054-2050 m) - In Valle Aurina, the two separate ski resorts of Speikboden above Campo Tures, and of Klausberg above Steinhaus offer a total of 35 km of descents, mostly for experts but also with alternatives for the less skilled; all the lift systems may be used with just one, reasonably priced skipass. From above, where snow is guaranteed from Christmas to Easter, you may enjoy an incredible view over the Alpine divide, relaxing in complete peace, far removed from the bustle of the fashionable resorts. The area is recommended for cross country skiing enthusiasts, who may choose from over 100 km of tracks both along the bottom of the valley as well as higher up at (1500-1600 m; piste 16 km).

  • Kronplatz (950-2275 m) - Brunico's "home mountain" is home to one of the largest and most modern skiing carousels in the South Tyrol; it is one of snow enthusiasts most sought after destinations, and they are attracted there in hosts. 31 modern ski-lift systems on three sides of the mountain (Riscone, Valdora and Maro-Marebbe in the Ladin Val Badia) bring you up to the large and sunny peak area with a spectacular panorama, from which descend 90 km of every kind of piste, all well maintained. At Al Plan-San Vigilio, there are also a number of pistes which run towards Piz de Plaies; for families, the peaceful Valdaora is recommended, having famous tracks for snow sleds, and numerous others in other locations. In the media Pusteria area, there are a total of 200 km of cross country ski tracks; every year, on the 42 km long Casies piste, a popular competition is held which is always well attended; international biathlon competitions are held on the (toll paying) Anterselva pistes.

  • Hochpustertal/Dolomiten - This prestigious ski resort, divided into seven zones, extends from the Braies valley to the Montecroce di Sesto pass, including 27 lift systems, which may be used with just one skipass. The Alta Pusteria can boast a total of 50 km of pistes of every level of difficulty, which are never too crowded. The epicentre is made up of Monte Elmo, on the border with Austria, with cable-way and chair-lifts functioning from the beginning of December to April. The pistes on the meadows of the Haunold mountain at San Candido and on the beautiful ones of the Croda Rossa mountain above Val Fiscalina (at 1900 m) are particularly suitable for families. Superb tracks for snow sleds are also not lacking; cross country skiers have circuit tracks of every kind at their disposal, all well prepared and for a total of 200 km; for these sportsmen and for winter excursions, fabulous destinations are represented by Prato Piazza at and the Nemes alps above Sesto, in a fairyland landscape, with the incredibly beautiful Dolomites in the background. The weather in the Alta Pusteria during the winter is generally quite stable, with about 90 days of sunshine.

At South Tyrol, there is tourist accommodation available in hotels, farm holiday, farmhouse, residence self-catering accommodation, mountain chalets, b&b, rooms for rent, holiday homes, camp sites and tourist villages.
